BLOCKING BOOTCAMP

Two-hour workshop sessions where participants will receive a scripted scene, floor plan, time to block & feedback.

Zoom Workshops - $30/session or $150 for all sessions in 2023

Session 1:   Friday, June 30 from 10A-12P PST [2-hander scene]

Session 2:  Thursday, July 6 from 4P-6P PST [stunts & action]

Session 3:  Saturday, July 8 from 6P-8P PST [directing intimacy]

Session 4:  Sunday, July 9 from 3P-5P PST [comedy action & stunts]
Session 5:  Monday, July 10 from 6-8P PST [directing performance scenes]

Session 6:  Sunday, July 16 from 4-6P PST [car driving /stunt scene]
Session 7:  Monday, July 17 from 5-7P PST [ensemble scene work]

Session 8: Friday, July 21 from 3-5P PST [relationship / break up scene]

Session 9: Thursday, July 27 from 10A-12P PST [gun/weapon work scene]

Session 10: Sunday, August 6 from 10A-12P PST [encore: intimacy scenes]
Session 11: Sunday, August
from 1-3P PST [van driving scene / ensemble / green screen]

Session 12: TBC

In this Blocking Bootcamp Workshop participants will:

  • Receive a scripted scene (or two), floor plan, time to block and feedback on blocking 

  • Gain insight on approaches to blocking & experience blocking quickly, creatively and efficiently

  • Get feedback on your work and advice on how to make it more efficient, effective and/or creative

  • Learn multiple approaches to blocking and see how peers approach, block and shot list the same scene

  • Approaches to choreograph and block energetic scenes with both actor and camera movement

  • Blocking for action, stunts, dance, performance musicals and other high energy scene work in specific sessions

  • Creative and efficacious approaches to blocking, shot listing and visual storytelling across genres

  • Be able to request scene examples of different styles and genres of scenes to practice in and out of class

This courses uses scripts, blocking, floor plans, shot lists and clips from television shows that have aired.
